*As a child, the person can't control it very well, and only with practice will they be able to control it. This goes with every other element I'll post on here.*
BASIC ELEMENTS
Fire: Obviously, a person with this element is able to control fire. As a child, the person can't control it very well, and only with practice will they be able to control it. This goes with every other element I'll post on here. People of the fire element are used to extreme heat, so they are resistant to the Second Sun's burning heat. People of this element are able to learn Ice easiest, while Water is hardest for them to learn. Weak to Water, strong to Ice.
Water: People of the Water element are very good swimmers, obviously, and usually drink alot of water. Although water and ice are basically from the same thing, someone of the Water element can't learn to use the Ice element without proper training. People of this element are able to learn Fire easiest, while Lightning is hardest for them to learn. Weak to Lightning, strong to Fire.
Lightning: Lightning element people are very fast on their feet, but most are too quick to think before acting. People of this element usually have a hard time learning to control their element. People of this element are able to learn Water easiest, while Earth is hardest for them to learn. Weak to Earth, strong to Water.
Earth: Earth element people have an usually high vitality, and most are very down to earth. They are also able to withstand the Second Sun. In the war, Earth element people were usually at the front lines, and used huge, specially designed shields. People of this element are able to learn Lightning easiest, while Wind is hardest for them to learn. Weak to Wind, strong to Lightning.
Wind: Like Lightning element people, these people are faster than other people, but not as fast as Lightning people. The main difference is that most Wind element people aren't as reckless. People of this element are able to learn Earth easiest, while Ice is hardest for them to learn. Weak to Ice, strong to Earth.
Ice: Ice element people are used to cold environments and have an unusually low body temperature. They have very low resistance to the Second Sun, so they usually wear heat-deflecting clothes or don't walk around during the Second Sun. People of this element are able to learn Wind easiest, while Fire is hardest for them to learn. Weak to Fire, strong to Wind.
OTHER ELEMENTS
These are other elements that don't belong in the basic elements section.
Light: An 'allignment' element. Usually people with a good disposition have this element. Many of the people who have this element are Ootokage, doctors, nurses and other healers. Light element magic is used mainly to heal or defend others, and usually people with a high amount of mental energy can use this kind of magic.
Dark: Another 'allignment' element. Usually people with a bad disposition have this element. The only known people who have this element are Hakai, criminals, and others like that. Dark element magic is used to cause severe physical and sometimes even mental damage. Usually people with a high amount of mental energy can use this kind of magic.
Wood: A 'secret' element. Not many people have this element. Users of this element are known to be able to control the growth of plants. People with this element are typically high-ranked magicians, as well as few master carpenters.
Metal: A 'secret' element. Like Wood, very little people have this element. Users of this element are able to control metal, and it's said that some can even create more metal from an existing peice of metal. Only high-ranking magicians have been known to use this element.
Sun: A VERY rare element. Almost nothing is known about this element, but some scientists think that it could be an extenxion of the Light element. Others think it's a totally different element, that may have been what created the two suns. Only those who have devoted their entire lives to magic have been able to learn how to use this element to an extent. No one, so far, has been able to master this element.
Moon: A VERY rare element. Like Sun, almostnothing is known about it. And, just like Sun, scientists debate whether it's an extension of the Dark element, or if it created the three moons. Like the sun element, only those who have devoted their entire lives to magic have been able to learn how to use this element to an extent. No one, so far, has been able to master this element.
*If you want to be an element under the other elements section, you must PM me, or give a VERY descriptive history about how you got that element.
Learning Magic: Increasing in Rank
There are four ranks to each element of magic: Beginner -> Apprentice -> Expert -> Master -> ? ? ?.
In order to learn a higher ranked magic, you must train with a magician who has learned that level of magic, or train by yourself with a lower level of magic. (Finding a trainer is the quickest way to master an element.)
All beginner ranked magic allows low-level manipulation of your element, with low control. (You cannot create the element out of thin air.) The damage is equivalent to your character's mental capacity, which is the same strength as the Apprentice level. In order to get to Apprentice level, you must learn to perfectly control and manipulate your element, which would typically take a few weeks training, though can be cut in half with a trainer.
Once you become an Apprentice of your element, you gain complete manipulation and control of that element. You also gain the ability to create small amounts of your element, typically only enough to cover your body. (Someone with a very high mental capacity will be able to create slightly more of their element.) You also are able to learn different spells according to your element. If you do not have a trainer, you must figure these out for yourself, which will take longer to increase your rank, but you may also invent new techniques or ways to use your element. In order to become an Expert in your element, you must learn and master at least five techniques that use your element. (Please be realistic with the time it takes to master a technique. Odds are, unless your character is a super-mega-genius, it will take them longer than a few days to master five techniques.)
Becoming an Expert gives you the ability to learn Apprentice-level techniques much faster than normal. It also doubles the amount of creation you can do. The power of your lower-ranked techniques increases 1.5 times the normal strength as well. In order to become a Master in your element, you must learn and master at least 10 expert-level techniques.
Once you are a Master of an element, the amount you can create doubles, and all magic ranked Expert or lower doubles in strength. You are also able to use any Apprentice-level techniques or your element. Becoming a master of one element allows you to become a Novice Magician. Mastering two elements gives you the title of Apprentice Magician, while three gives you the title of Expert Magician. A Master Magician is a magic-user who has mastered four elements, and is at least a Beginner in two others. Once you master all basic elements, you become an Archmage, which doubles the power of all of your magic techniques.
There is a rank above Master with an unknown name. Only very few people have gotten to this level of magic, which allows infinite creation of your element and doubles the power of your techniques. (The double in power adds to the triple for an Archmage if they become the secret rank in all elements they've mastered, for a five-times increase in power.) The only way to become this rank is to find a trainer of this level, for which there is one for each element.
Learning Magic: Gaining New Elements
In order to gain a new element you must be at least an Apprentice with your starting element. You need to find someone who is at least an Expert in the element you wish to learn, and recieve training from them to become a beginner in that element. (You do not start out a beginner in all elements; only your starting one.) Once you pass the basic training, you must take a 'test' in order to be considered a begnnier of the element.
NOTE: Those who are Evil alligned can not learn Light magic, and the Good alligned can not learn Dark magic. Your character can, however, change their allignment, but they can only do so once; and they are unable to use magic related to their previous allignment. (Characters acting as spies cannot learn magic that is against their allignment unless they permanently change sides.) Characters who are Neutral may learn both, but will only be able to reach Apprentice rank in both Light and Dark.
*A small list of spells will be created for each rank and element. More spells will be added as others invent new ones.
